ROL Feeding Programs
Philippines, Department of Health Secretary (DOH) Paulyn Jean Rosell-Ubial reported that currently, 33% of the 14 million Filipino children (out of the 100+ million population are suffering growth failure when they reach five years old – a problem that can be accounted to poor nutritional intervention. And the current administration to combat the problem of Filipino children’s impeded growth in the next five years.
Aside from this numerical data, malnutrition, hunger and illnesses due to poverty is visible in our neighborhood that is why it is altogether a complete cause for the River of Life Churches to do the Feeding Program which offer kids nutritious food while being educated about the Word of God as well.
From our different church location, feeding is done weekly on various locations. A simple and entertaining curriculum from Bible stories to simple Christian principles are being taught while feeding the children. River of Life Batasin do it weekly on 2 locations in Taytay, Rizal in partnership with their Children’s and Youth ministry and its full army of workers. In River of Life Pinugay in Baras, Rizal, they do it twice a week. In River of Life Cainta, it is done weekly superheaded by the Women’s Ministry and the other one by a small group.
It is pure joy to see smiles and laughters from these not anymore hungry children. Aside from these, our churches are now filled with these new children and their parents and we hope we will grow more, to help and reach more children.
We want our impact goes far beyond the lives of the children. Aside from reaching to the kids, we aim also that their parents will accept Christ and begin to attend the local churches as a family. We want to see the whole community gradually change as we focus on simply providing meals for the children and meeting their needs.
