Interview with the Pastor
Interview with the Pastor
(Questions and Answers from our new Pastor Jeffrey Datangel)
Q: How do you feel as the new pastor of River of Life Cainta? How was the transition?
A: I feel I’m fulfilling my existence. Just doing what I am called to be. Everyday is a roller coaster of emotions. There are many victories, defeats, excitement, and adventure. It’s like an emergency room. You’ll never know what’s coming.
Transitions are always chaotic at the start and we weathered a lot of it already. What I appreciate is the solidity of our ministry team. I’ve seen their willing and dedicated hearts stand up and carry on God’s vision for this place. Doug Kelley and Nanay Carol are doing their part from the United States. Ptr . August transferred his ministry from Valley Golf to Brookside. The Hutchinsons are always there to support the two churches with spiritual, practical and prophetic input. Vea and Queen are doing their administrative jobs phenomenally. Our church leaders are gradually catching up. Its God’s time for everything
But most of all. Its God’s presence that never changes. He’s here enabling us to do His work. Ptr Mike gave emphasis on walking in God’s Spirit that’s what to and continues to dwell on. More and more we see God’s Spirit move
Q: What are the changes in your life, your ministry, family and friends after becoming the new pastor?
A: Actually nothing big changed. Were doing ministry then, we are doing ministry now. I guess the only difference is e very one calls you pastor, and it takes a long time getting used to it. They can call me anyway they want, they can call me bro, Kuya or just Jeff. I’m still the same person they know. The big challenge is balancing work and ministry. Which I have been doing so many years now and still it is a challenge. I’m a tentmaker pastor as what Paul did selling tents to make a living. I’m working as a pediatric physical therapist for developmentally delayed children. The kids I handle have long term problems that we address. Maybe God used my profession for character building. I learned to be patient.
Q: Right now, how do you describe the health of the church?
A: I’m excited about church. Even though were down to one service I say the church is healthy. Indicators such as attendance and giving are stable. The people continue to come. But still it’s not enough. I want our church to be like in the Book of Acts. I want the church to grow more in the Spirit, daily in fellowship, praying for each other and eating in Word of God as their everyday meal.
Q: What is your outlook to our church or what is your vision to forward this Ministry and forward this church? Do you have a priority agenda or specific strategies for this new leadership?
A: There is no priority agenda but Jesus.”It’s all about Jesus”. Everything is through Him and for Him. If the people will see this emphasis I believe everything will work together for good.
For me I give focus on team leadership. I don’t intend to be like Moses who judged Israel single handedly day and night. Jethro said it’s not good. He will sure wear himself and the people out (Exodus 18). I believe we are all called for the ministry. Everyone doing their part may it be as a set man or a supportive role.
Q: What is your message to all the leaders, and all the members of the ROL Family and also to all the people worldwide subscribed thru our website?
A: Let us continue to put Jesus as our center. This ministry is for Him and for the people that need Him. ROL will grow if and only if Jesus is our center. If we will all be together in our knees for God. The oil of God’s presence will surely flow. Our vision is to take Floodway for Christ .
Please pray for more laborers in the vineyard. More people who responds to God’s call to serve him. We need extra hands.
Also pray for provision as we are supporting a ministry center in Cainta Greenland Subdivision. It has facilities for training and equipping God’s servants to do the work of the ministry. Vision needs money to run it.
