What We Believe

     1.  We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God.  (II Pet. 1:20; II Tim. 3:16)     2.  We believe that God has revealed Himself as ONE GOD existing  and manifest in three distinct persons – Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  (Matt. 28:19; II Cor. 13:14; I John 5:8)

     3.  We believe in the test and fall of man, his lost state as recorded in the scriptures and his subsequent depravity and inability to attain to righteousness.  (Gen. 3:1-22; Rom. 5:12, 18; Rom. 6:23)

     4.  We believe in the reality and personality of Satan who is a fallen cherub.  He was once the covering angel (called Lucifer) of the very throne of God.  Now he wields his power to oppose God’s will and to destroy God’s people.  (Is. 13:12-14; Eze. 28:1-19; Rev. 12:1-17)

     5.  We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, the only Savior of mankind, conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary.  (Luke 1:26-35; John 1:18; Is. 8:14, 9:6-7)

     6.  We believe that Christ died for our sins, was buried and rose again on the third day.  (I Cor. 15:1-19; Rom. 4:25)

     7.  We believe that Jesus Christ’s bodily ascended into heaven and is now seated at the right hand of the Father and that Jesus will come again for His church.  (John 14:23; I Thess. 4:13-18; Rev. 19:11-16)

     8.  We believe that the salvation of man was provided through the cross of Calvary and that through repentance and faith in Christ’s atoning work we are saved.  (Eph. 2:8-9; Heb. 9:12; Rom. 5:11)

     9.  We believe that man is both saved and kept by the grace of God and that nothing can separate such a man from God (Rom. 8:28-39; John 10:28-29)

    10.  We believe in water baptism by immersion at or subsequent to a profession of faith in Jesus Christ as Savior.  (Matt. 28:19; Acts 2:34-38)

    11.  We believe in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit as an experience subsequent to salvation with scriptural evidence, such as speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives utterance.  (Acts 2:1-4, 8:14-17, 10:44-46; Gal. 3:14)

    12.  We believe in the present-day operation of the nine supernatural gifts of the Spirit.  (I Cor. 12-14; Acts 4:30; Rom. 8:11; James 5:14; II John 1: I Thess. 5:23)

    13.  We believe in living a Spirit-filled life of obedience to God’s will in thought, word and deed.  (Eph. 5:18; I Cor. 6:14, 7:1; I John 2:15)

    14.  We believe in celebrating the Lord’s Supper (communion) for all believers.  (I Cor. 11:23-32)

    15.  We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead and a day of judgment when all those who have been born again through believing on the Lord Jesus Christ will have eternal life and all those who have not been born again and believed on the Lord Jesus Christ shall suffer eternal punishment along with the devil and his angels.  (Mark 9:43-48; II Thess. 1:9; Rev. 20:10-15)

     16.  We believe that the church is the place of His rule, authority and power.  (Matt. 3:2; Luke 6:20, 12:32; Col. 1:13, 4:11; James 2:5)

     17.  We believe that the work of the church is to:

          Follow Christ.  (Matt. 4:20, 16:24; John 10:27)

Preach the gospel.  (Matt. 28:19-20; Mk. 16:15)

Live the truth.  (II Cor. 5:15; Rom. 12:1-2; Gal. 2:20)

Demonstrate His power.  (Acts 1:8; II Cor. 12:9)

          Glorify God.  (Ps. 50:23; John 15:8; I Cor. 6:20)

     18.  We believe in the fivefold ministry gifts of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers for the equipping of the saints and the perfecting of the church.  (Eph. 4:11-16)

     19.  We believe that the church is called by God to be salt and light to our generation by loving, serving and leading all men to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.  (Matt. 5:13; John 8:12; Is. 53:8)

     20.  We believe the priesthood of all believers is to be manifested in both the church and the individual believer.  (Eph. 5:23-27, 4:30; I Thess. 5:19; I John 5:7-8; John 4:20-24; I Pet. 2:5-10; Rev. 1:6, 5:10, 20:6, I Cor. 2:10, I Cor. 2:10, Gal. 5:16-25)
